第16回 成体脳ニューロン新生懇談会・「個性」創発脳共催研究会 in 仙台2020活動報告

2020年2月21日（金）から22日（土）にかけて、成体脳ニューロン新生懇談会との共催で「第16回 成体脳ニューロン新生懇談会・「個性」創発脳共催研究会 in 仙台2020」を開催しました。

成体脳ニューロン新生懇談会は、成体におけるニューロン新生を研究する国内の研究者同士が、お互いの情報を交換したり、関連の研究分野を勉強したりするために2003年に結成されました（http://adultneurogenesis.org）。

今回、第16回を迎える成体脳ニューロン新生懇談会は約50名の参加に恵まれ、その半数近が新しい参加者でした。基調講演としてハーバード大学のNannan Guo博士を招聘し、その他に11題の口頭発表がなされました。ニューロン新生のメカニズムのみならず、ニューロン新生と病気、脳機能、ストレスとの関連と、トピックは多岐にわたりました。ブレイクの時間帯ならびに夕食前に行われた17件のポスター発表では、大学院生を含む若手研究者との活発な議論が行われ、この分野における次世代の活躍を期待させるものがありました。

新型コロナウイルス感染症騒動の真っ只中、開催が危ぶまれる声も聞かれましたが、手洗い・消毒の徹底やマスクを全員に配布するなど、主催者側として感染予防にできる限りの注意を払い、無事に研究会を執り行うことができました。これからも成体脳ニューロン新生懇談会への新規の参加者を募り、会員同士で密に情報交換を行うことにより、ニューロン新生と「個性」創発との関連を明らかにする新たな研究領域が開拓されることを期待します。
